Welcome

Ralph Allen is a high performing school and our outcomes in public examinations consistently places us amongst the very best in the region, in terms of both actual attainment and student progress. We are very proud that our students achieve outstanding GCSE and A level results, with many continuing their studies at universities throughout the country. We are most proud however that each of our students secures a route to the next stage of their lives, regardless of pathway.

Our aim is to provide all our students with the very best opportunities by offering them an outstanding secondary education. We work relentlessly to achieve this by ensuring each child in our care follows our core values:

Respect – Our students are respectful to each other, the school and the wider community.

Teamwork – Our students work together, celebrate together and all play their part in the successes of the Ralph Allen community.

Personal Best – Our students work incredibly hard to achieve their personal best, both academically and beyond the classroom.

About us

eeeeee.jpg

Ralph Allen School is a high achieving, non-denominational 11-18 school for girls and boys on the skyline of the world heritage city of Bath, in the local authority of Bath and North East Somerset. The school became an academy in August 2012 and a member of the Palladian Academy Trust in 2016. We have approximately 1300 pupils and take 210 pupils in each year in six forms of entry (years 7-11); there are approximately 280 pupils in the sixth form. We serve the community of Bath and villages to the south of the city. The school is surrounded by green sites managed by English Nature and the National Trust. Its local village is Combe Down.

The school is named after Ralph Allen (1693-1764), the Bath mine owner, entrepreneur and philanthropist who contributed much to the building of Georgian Bath and the early development of the post office. The school was built in 1957 and has been further extended and developed since then.

Our Values and Ethos

We want Ralph Allen School to be exceptional and extraordinary, a school that everyone is proud to be associated with. We want to be truly comprehensive, actively embracing difference and diversity. We want to provide an environment that values learning, inspires courage and helps everyone achieve their potential.

We want to be a listening and responsive school with relationships at the heart, welcoming everybody and creating a strong sense of belonging. We want to develop respect, resilience and resourcefulness, challenging and stretching each individual in a supportive way.

We want to celebrate our students’ wide-ranging abilities and achievements. We want to empower our staff to be inspiring, creative and optimistic. We want our leaders to be visionary and future-oriented, continually challenging the way we think about and provide education.

Our Trust

Palladian Academy Trust is a strong Trust based in Bath and Wiltshire that offers education from 4-19. We are proud that our schools serve different communities, some are church schools, some are non-denominational, but together we know we are better placed to ensure our pupils have the best educational experience.

The Trust was established in 2016 and is named after a local landmark, The Palladian Bridge in Prior Park, a symbol of connection and unity.

As a Trust, we know that each of our schools has its own distinctiveness and each one brings different strengths as an equal partner. While we recognise what each school has to offer individually, we also work together at the same time, to maximise the benefits of being part of a larger network and organisation. Being part of a Trust gives our colleagues access to high quality professional development opportunities, gives our pupils the chance to interact with others from different schools and provides challenge and support to Trust and school leaders through effective governance.
